The L.E.D.'s newest franchise, One Eyed Monsters, continue their exciting inaugural season this week against the league's best team, Steel City. Despite dominating the regular season, this game will be much closer than people think.
NOT SEXY, BUT SCRAPPY: Coach Hamrick and One Eyed Monsters continue their phenomenal rookie campaign, and they may have caught their opponent at the right time this week. Injuries and COVID have taken this teams star players away, but they continue to find production each week. QB Josh Allen continues to put up big games each week, but Coach Hamrick will need to rely on his elite WR group - Stefon Diggs, Mike Evans, and Robert Woods, it order to win this week. Like...a lot. Ronald Jones II is expected to be a game-time decision due to a COVID exposure, which puts this team behind in the RBs group. However, Kareem Hunt continues to find a way to score for this team and Melvin Gordon has been putting up respectable games. Can this team find a way to pull off the upset of the season?
I AIN'T AS GOOD AS I ONCE WAS: The L.E.D. regular season powerhouse, Steel City, has taken a few lumps over the past few weeks. Losing deep threat Will Fuller V to suspension was a HUGE blow to the offensive production of this team. Ezekiel Elliott is also a shell of his former self due to no offensive line talent up front to block for him.
But this team isn't the #1 seed by some fluke. Patrick Mahomes continues to prove why he is the best QB in the NFL by putting up BIG numbers every week -- and he's doing it by throwing to the league's leading receiver, Travis Kelce. But if this team truly is the championship team it appeared to be all year, they're going to need some solid production this week from Zeke as well as boom-or-bust WRs Tyler Lockett and the suddenly relevant again, T.Y. Hilton.
WINNER: STEEL CITY
On paper, it appears that Shiva Kamini has the better roster by just a hair. The problem for Vi is: can you survive the avalanche of points from just a few players?
DROPPING DUECES: The running attack from Coach Douthit and the Player Haters continues to overwhelm his opponents. Derrick Henry isn't just scoring. He's ripping off huge runs and putting up 200 yards games. Austin Ekeler has returned to form and the Haters are now benefitting from the emergence of rookie RB, J.K. Dobbins. The Haters WRs will need to contribute this week as Terry McLaurin was abysmal last week and Marquise "Hollywood" Brown is out this week with COVID. Rashard Higgins will replace Brown after putting up double-digit points two weeks in a row. Finally, reigning MVP Lamar Jackson is coming off a huge game in which he had to beat the Browns twice! Another big game from him is crucial if the Haters hope to pull off the upset.
READY FOR ANYTHING: Throughout his time in the L.E.D., Coach Vivek has made it to the championship game once, but fell short in the end. That particular roster was one of the luckiest ever assembled and caught all the right breaks at the right times. However, the 2020 Shiva Kamini! roster might be his best team yet. This team has few, if any weaknesses and they appear to be healthy for their first matchup in the L.E.D. playoffs. Pick your poison: Do you want to get picked apart by QB Aaron Rodgers? Torched by WRs DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley? Or run over by RBs Aaron Jones and Josh Jacobs? This team is loaded with offensive weapons and will be very tough to stop going forward. But can they survive the copious amount of points from the Haters? WINNER: SHIVA KAMINI!
